Assistant Director of Nursing - Skilled Nursing Facility at Gila River Health Care Sacaton, AZ 85147

Oversees and manages the work and services provided by all nursing staff members while continuously improving the quality of patient/resident care and medical outcomes of those individuals by performing the following duties personally and through other licensed nurses.
Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.
Maintains exclusive focus upon patients/residents, the quality of their care, and their individual needs without significant distraction by administrative and non-patient contact activities.
Plans and organizes all nursing services provided by the facility including by CNA's, while ensuring patient and resident needs are met in accordance with all contemporary nursing standards and regulations, particularly regarding the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Consults with the Director of Nursing on nursing problems and interpretation of enterprise policies to ensure patient and resident needs are met.
Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for nursing staff members and actively guides all nursing staff members toward improved nursing capabilities.
Engages in studies and investigations related to improving nursing care.
Develops educational plans for in-service education and orientation of health personnel.
Ensures that all clinical training, education and development activities are highly contributive to patient and resident well-being.
Solely responsible for nursing staff scheduling and ensuring very high reliability of all nursing staff members.
Oversees successful discipline and correction of nursing staff members lacking reliability, dependability, capability, and patient/resident focus.
Ensures that no violations of federal health care regulations occur as the result of conflicting facility policies, practices and procedures.
Ensures that Medical Data System (MDS) Coordinators and all other nursing staff members make full and proper use of the MDS system in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Confers with supervisors and staff to ensure efficiency of all nursing services and programs.
Participates in the development of patient and resident care plans and ensures patient/resident focused compliance with those care plans.
Obtains educational materials for use in teaching and demonstrating nursing and other health related activities.
Confers with administrative personnel to determine procedures and techniques for patient and resident care and to implement new patient and resident nursing services.
Develops and oversees the facility's Restorative Nursing Program while ensuring broad success, in concert with other management team members.
In coordination with Pharmacy and Physician staffs, reviews all psychotropic medications, patient/guardian consents, and medication outcomes to ensure only proper use of those medications.
Assists in selecting nursing employees and in orienting new employee's.
Fulfills all responsibilities of the Director of Nursing during the infrequent occasions in which that position holder is absent and in so doing ensures high quality patient/resident service and compliance with all federal, state and local rules and regulations, With the Director of Nursing, develops standards and procedures for providing nursing care and for evaluating and continually improving nursing quality.
Evaluates professional performance of all nursing staff and interprets nursing standards to staff.
Recommends duty assignments of nursing staff and coordinates services with other health and social agencies to improve nursing and patient/resident outcomes.
Reviews, evaluates, and interprets nursing records, vital statistics, and other data affecting health service to assess community needs and to plan and implement patient/resident programs to meet those needs.
Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program from an accredited university or college; Bachelors' Degree preferred.
Registered Nurse Licensure in AZ or qualified Compact Licensure.
3 years nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility with at least 2 years in a nursing leadership role.
Current and continuing BLS training and certification.
Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
AZ Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
