Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy services in skilled nursing, inpatient, outpatient and community environments to facilitate development and rehabilitation of mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled persons by performing the following duties personally.
Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.
Maintains exclusive focus upon patients/residents, the quality of their care, and their individual needs without significant distraction by administrative and non-patient contact activities.
Provides inpatient or outpatient occupational therapy services including screenings, consultations, evaluations and ongoing occupational therapy treatments.
Performs and interprets evaluations of patient mobility and activities of daily living abilities.
Evaluates and accurately documents patient progress and continually adjusts treatment methodologies accordingly.
Develops, adjusts and manages individual patient plans of care.
Provides practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, and activities of daily living.
Coordinates participation in sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients or disabled persons develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities.
Uses therapy modalities such as heat, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and paraffin as necessary and appropriate.
Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities.
Selects constructive activities suited to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence, prepare individual for return to employment, assists in restoration of functions, and aid in adjustment to disability.
Teaches individuals skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates individual's progress.
Provides and trains patients in the use of durable medical equipment, upper extremity prosthetics and orthotics.
Designs and constructs special equipment for individual and suggests adaptation of individual's work-living environment.
Lays out materials for individual's use and cleans and repairs tools at end of sessions.
Conducts training programs or participates in training other workers in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.
Directs and assists patients in exercises and use of mobility devices and orthotics.
Educates patients and families in appropriate therapy methods.
Maintains high productivity and consults/serves 8-16 patients per shift.
Provides timely medical documentation in accordance with all regulatory and payor requirements.
Participates and consults in interdisciplinary therapies care coordination and program discharge planning.
Complies fully with all regulatory and information privacy standards and mandates.
Supervises and provides effective training to multiple employees.
Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.
Arizona Occupational Therapist license in good standing.
Three to seven years of experience treating patients in licensed Occupational Therapy facility.
Experience within a multi-cultural health care environment strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
Interest in medical subjects, patient services/care, and customer service.
Prior medical environment work experience is preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
